Inspirational Quotes for Freelancers

About a year ago, I started an Evernote entry with a collection of inspirational quotes I was finding around the web. While there’s definitely no shortage of motivational quotes, proverbs, and pieces of wisdom out there, these are the ones that caught my eye. The collection hasn’t been updated as often as I’d like, but I intend to keep this as a living post that will be updated with new quotes as I find them. Might as well provide some inspiration for others as well as myself!

“Be willing to be a beginner every single morning.” – Meister Eckhart

“Cautious, careful people, always casting about to preserve their reputation and social standing, never can bring about a reform. Those who are really in earnest must be willing to be anything or nothing in the world’s estimation, and publicly and privately, in season and out, avow their sympathy with despised and persecuted ideas and their advocates, and bear the consequences.” – Susan B. Anthony

Opportunity doesn’t knock. It swirls around you, but either you’re not ready to see it, or you’re not reaching for it.

Soccer coach Sven-Goran Eriksson once said, “The greatest barrier to success is the fear of failure.”

“Some people die at 25 and aren’t buried until 75.” – Benjamin Franklin

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” – Steve Jobs

“You may spend your whole life chasing it. But that’s okay; it was a good thing to chase.”  – Buck Brannaman

“It matters not who you love, where you love, why you love, when you love or how you love. It matters only that you love.”  — John Lennon

“Knowing how to do everything is not the goal. Knowing that you can learn is everything.” – Scott, Chase Jarvis’ assistant

“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” – Oscar Wilde

“Live like you mean it, and love til you feel it.” – Goo Goo Dolls “Before It’s Too Late”

“You don’t always win, but every time you lose, you get better.” – Ian Somerhalder

“No doesn’t mean never, it just means not yet.” – Candice Accola

“You have to bring out something special in your photo subject that no one else can capture.” – Mario Testino

“A work of art is one through which the consciousness of the artist is able to give its emotions to anyone who is prepared to receive them. There is no such thing as bad art.” – Muriel Rukeyser
